Studio Update:
Just back from France.
I can tell you that the airport security check was intensive. They tossed chapstick, sun block, and any non-prescription drugs away. I was panicked when they cross-examined me about the chemical makeup of my pastels. I had about 200 with me and they cost about $3 a pop. But I survived the interrogation and got to keep my pastels. Yeah. By the way, every French person I met was very helpful and good-natured.
That said and being in France it is impossible not to say how much I enjoyed the food: the bread, pate, cheeses, incredible salads, duck, steak with pomme frit, and the classic, not-too-sweet fruit tarts. My existence there was made up of great friends and conversation, eating and drinking, and painting and drawing.
The main place where I stayed was near a tiny one street village, Boisse, in a Medieval windmill on the high point with panoramic views of the country side. That is where I did these drawings and paintings.
Here I am showing 7 out of 11 that I made. Of the pieces I am not showing: one is a lemon, i.e. it looks like something a stupid child made. One is on the drawing board for intensive editing. The other two have been given to my hosts and I don't have digital images of them.
The first three are 19x26" pastels on paper.
