Michael Newberry, Sponge Bath,
2010, charcoal on Rives BFK, 13 x 19 inches
A few months ago an artist quit. He kindly offered me his art supplies, including these sea sponges.
I think everyone is unique, and deep down they have their own ways, thoughts, and feelings. They are like a lone glass filled with substance. But there is also group think, which promises security and brotherhood, yet can have something inhumane about it, in the sense when one forgoes their uniqueness, they can become dry and lifeless, like a sponge.
