While in the throes of painting Denouement in my downtown Los Angeles loft I got the opportunity to create my first lithograph.  Toby Michele, the master printer and owner of Angeles Press had his studio located in the same building. An interesting fact about lithography is that each piece of an edition is an original. The process begins with drawing or painting with a special black ink onto a block of limestone. For ever color of the print the artist must create those particular color marks on a new stone. It is not until all the stones have printed on a sheet of special paper that the final image comes through. Ginger Jar has three separate colors: black, brown, and blue.

What I like most about the real ginger jar is that each of the male figures is in a unique position of either dancing or fighting.

The Ginger Jar is a genuine lithograph, hand-signed edition 23 of 25. Note: the edition sold out several years ago and this particular piece has come back on the market.

Cherry wood frame, 1 3/4" deep, rounded butterfly corners, 8 ply acid free cotton rag mat, uv plexi-glass.
